Question:

How will reflexology therapy benefit me?

Answer:

With therapeutic reflexology therapy you can experience relief from muscular tension and pain, receive increased range of motion and a reduction of mental stress levels. It works with all systems in the body to regain balance. Reflexology is a natural healing process that can deliver both physical and emotional benefits.

Question:

How often will I need treatments?

Answer:

Preventative and maintenance - once a month

Acute conditions -  2-3 treatments per week until the symptoms improve

Chronic conditions - 1 session every one or two weeks

Some people require only a few sessions to treat a specific problem, while others become regular users of reflexology therapy as both proactive and preventative healthcare. Reflexology can help improve circulation and help the body restore homeostasis.

Question:

How old does a person need to be to receive reflexology therapy?

Answer:

Any age. Reflexology therapy treatments are effective from birth until palliative care stages.

Question:

Which regions of my body get worked on?

Answer:

The options for reflexology are hand, feet, face or ears. A health record is required to provide the therapist with details of your will ask you what you want to get out of the session. You will also be asked to describe any chronic problems that you are experiencing.

Will I experience tenderness following a reflexology therapy treatment?

Answer:

Most people report feel very relaxed, and often experience significant relief from aches, pains and stress after a massage session. However some people, especially those with acute or chronic conditions, can experience healing responses to the session which may last a day or two. This can include, but is not limited to, feeling like you are getting a cold, increased urination or bowel movements, funny taste in the mouth, increase thirst, mild headache, feeling cold, being energized, feeling tired. This is caused by your body releasing toxins.

Question:

I'm not sure I'm comfortable with a stranger touching me.

Answer:

It is not uncommon for first-time clients to be apprehensive with reflexology therapy. Most clients lose this apprehension within the first few minutes of treatment. Reflexology therapists are trained professionals who respect your feelings and go out of their way to allow you to feel comfortable.

Question:

Do I have to take off all of my clothes?

Answer:

No. For foot reflexology, you remove your socks. All other sessions, all your clothes remain on.

Question:

Will my extended healthcare plan cover the costs of reflexology therapy treatments?

Answer:

If your employer has reflexology included in your healthcare plan, your sessions will be covered. Please check with your medical coverage provider to see if they include reflexology.
